About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Quality Engineering Supervisor to join a dynamic manufacturing organization. This role offers the opportunity to combine engineering expertise with leadership, ensuring that products meet the highest standards of quality and reliability while guiding a team of Quality Technicians. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in engineering principles applied within a manufacturing environment, coupled with the ability to lead and mentor others.
This is a highly visible, hands-on role that requires presence on the production floor, active problem-solving, and collaboration across departments.
- Team Leadership: Supervise, coach, and develop a team of Quality Technicians, ensuring technical excellence and adherence to engineering and quality standards.
- Engineering Problem-Solving: Investigate nonconformances, perform root cause analysis (5 Why, Fishbone, 8D), and design corrective and preventive actions grounded in engineering principles.
- Floor Engagement: Serve as a hands-on leader on the production floor—inspecting products, troubleshooting quality concerns in real time, and ensuring processes are executed correctly.
- Performance Monitoring: Track and report key metrics such as scrap reduction, First-Time-Right rates, and nonconformance response times; implement process improvements to meet targets.
- Auditing & Compliance: Conduct in-process and final product audits; maintain quality documentation and ensure compliance with ISO standards and Quality Management Systems (QMS).
- Continuous Improvement: Lead Lean, 5S, and process capability initiatives; apply engineering analysis to optimize systems and reduce variation.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure products are designed for manufacturability, and that assembly processes meet technical requirements.
- New Product Development (NPD) Support: Participate in design reviews, validate assembly processes, conduct FMEAs, and confirm readiness for production launch.
- Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or Quality Engineering required.
- 5+ years of engineering experience in a quality or manufacturing role within a final assembly or high-volume production environment.
- Leadership: Proven supervisory or team leadership experience, with the ability to develop and engage technical staff.
- Technical Expertise: Proficiency in QMS, Six Sigma, SPC, DOE, FMEA, and corrective action tools.
- Manufacturing Knowledge: Strong understanding of material flow, assembly operations, and production processes.
- Soft Skills: Hands-on, proactive problem solver; strong communicator; comfortable engaging directly with production and engineering teams.
- Preferred Qualifications: ASQ certifications (Green Belt, Black Belt, CQE) or ISO Auditor certification. Experience with compressors, engines, or related equipment is a plus but not required.
