Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources
Rock Hill Schools – Rock Hill, South Carolina
Position is Immediately Available or by July 1, 2026
- $181,000, plus a comprehensive benefits package
- Full-time, 12 months

- Bachelor’s degree in education, HR Management, or related area required
- Master’s degree in human resources or related area preferred
- SC Certification (Principal or Superintendent) preferred
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience as building or district administrator preferred
- Equivalent combination of experience and education
Rock Hill Schools is seeking an accomplished, forward-thinking human resources leader to serve as the district’s next Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources. This executive-level role provides strategic oversight for all HR operations, including recruitment, hiring, onboarding, licensure, benefits, employee relations, compliance, evaluations, and professional development. As a cabinet-level leader reporting directly to the Superintendent, the Assistant Superintendent plays a central role in shaping district culture, supporting principals and administrators, and ensuring that all HR systems are fair and aligned with local, state, and federal requirements.
The position oversees a comprehensive portfolio of responsibilities that impact every employee lifecycle stage. Key priorities include developing short- and long-range staffing plans, directing district wide recruitment and retention strategies, supervising HR programs and staff, ensuring due-process procedures, advising administrators on personnel matters, and leading policy development. The role also manages critical compliance functions such as licensure administration, grievances and investigations, unemployment and workers compensation, safety programs, and state and federal reporting.
Candidates must demonstrate a deep understanding of HR best practices in public education along with strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. The district seeks someone with the proven ability to guide large-scale HR systems, maintain confidentiality and professionalism under pressure, support school leaders, drive organizational improvement, and create positive employee experiences. Experience as a building or district administrator is preferred, along with a bachelor’s degree in education or HR and advanced preparation in human resource leadership.
