OverviewAn established and rapidly growing aerospace manufacturer in Rock Hill is seeking an experienced 5‑Axis DMG CNC Setter to join its high‑precision machining team. This is a strong long‑term opportunity within a company investing heavily in new technology, including eight new DMG machines coming online.
Key Responsibilities- Set up and operate 5‑axis DMG machining centers for high‑precision aerospace components
- Perform milling operations on complex aerospace parts with tight tolerances
- Interpret engineering drawings, models, and GD&T requirements
- Conduct tooling selection, fixture setup, offsets, and machine adjustments
- Complete first‑article inspections and verify dimensional accuracy using precision measurement tools
- Monitor machining processes and make adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency
- Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to resolve machining issues
- Maintain machine cleanliness, calibration, and basic preventative maintenance
- Follow all aerospace manufacturing standards, quality procedures, and safety protocols
- Proven experience setting and operating 5‑axis DMG CNC machines (DMU, DMG Mori, or equivalent)
- Strong milling experience, including setup, tooling, and machining of complex components
- Solid understanding of CNC machining principles, cutting parameters, and tooling
- Ability to read and interpret complex aerospace engineering drawings and GD&T
- Proficiency with measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and CMM reports
- Experience working in a high‑precision, tight‑tolerance environment
- Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to work independently
- Familiarity with AS9100 or similar aerospace quality systems is an advantage
- Experience machining aluminum, titanium, and other aerospace‑grade materials
- Background in low‑volume, high‑precision component manufacturing
- Exposure to CAD/CAM workflows and program adjustments
