Overview

Patient Care Technician Inpatient-Student Nurse at UnityPoint Health. Students will get the chance to familiarize themselves with the unit(s). Great learning opportunity that allows a flexible schedule while in school. Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, provides basic nursing care for the personal and comfort needs of the patient.

• Patient Care:
  Partners with the RN and other healthcare team members to achieve patient care outcomes and goals of care, as identified in the plan of care.
• Documentation:
  Obtains records and/or accurately enters data into the EMR; competency validation and documentation of skill performance are required.
• Task Execution:
  Performs specific tasks as directed by the RN and other healthcare team members, following competency validation.
• Unit Secretary Support:
  May assist with responsibilities of the Unit Secretary, per department expectations and appropriate competency validation.
• Assist with activities of daily living for patients.
• Medication transportation:
  May assist in transporting non-controlled substances from pharmacy delivery devices to medication storage areas on the unit, and from the unit to the pharmacy.
• Safety:
  Demonstrates an awareness of patient and personal safety.

• Must be an active Nursing Student
• PCT will provide manager with break dates upon hire/transfer into role
• Will work 0.60 FTE or above schedule during summer break
• Will work every other weekend during summer break
• Will agree to work a minimum of 4 additional shifts during other holiday breaks (Christmas/Spring/Fall Breaks); dates to be reviewed with manager
• PCT will be responsible to complete all Cornerstone modules by due date
• PCT will be required to fulfill all vaccination requirements
