IT Field Technician - ON CALL

Geeks on Site is hiring on‑call IT field technicians to support residential and small business customers in the Midwest.

Job Type: Independent contractor (1099)
Pay: $40‑$45 per hour (on‑site)
Schedule: Flexible – you accept jobs based on your availability.

Important: This is an on‑call, 1099 independent contractor role with no guaranteed hours. You decide which jobs you want to accept.

• Diagnose and repair hardware and software issues on Windows and macOS systems.
• Resolve boot errors, OS issues, and login problems.
• Set up or troubleshoot Wi‑Fi and wired internet connections.
• Replace or upgrade hardware (HDD, RAM, cooling fans).
• Configure and connect printers and scanners (Canon, HP, Brother, etc.).
• Address common printer error codes (e.g., ink absorber, paper feed, connectivity).
• Perform general maintenance on multifunction printers (MFPs).
• Reinstall operating systems using bootable USBs or recovery media.
• Install remote tools or shortcuts as requested.
• Communicate clearly with customers and provide basic post‑service support.
• Document service visits and, when needed, escalate complex issues.

• 2+ years of field IT support experience, including computer and printer work.
• Familiarity with Canon, HP, and other common printer brands.
• Knowledge of error code troubleshooting (e.g., Canon code 1700, boot issues, driver conflicts).
• Experience with both Windows (10/11) and macOS troubleshooting.
• Must have personal tools (bootable USB, screwdriver set, etc.).
• Reliable vehicle and valid driver's license.
• Smartphone with camera and data for documentation and communication.
