Dockworker

Dohrn Transfer Company is inviting applicants for a full‑time Dockworker (FT) position, paid $22.12 per hour, with a raise to $25.87 on the first anniversary.

Monday‑Friday. Available start times are 4 pm and 10 pm.

Convey freight to and from trailers and storage areas by hand or with the assistance of forklifts and hand trucks.

• Command of written and spoken English, perform basic math, handle receipts, read shipping labels, and follow loading instructions.
• Load and unload freight by hand or using hand truck, dolly, forklift, or other equipment, in compliance with DOT requirements.
• Sort and secure items on trucks or dock to prevent damage.
• Lift and move various materials—cartons, bags, cylinders, boxes, crates, drums, pipe, bars, rugs, etc.—using forklifts, carts, dollies, banding machines, shrink‑wrap tubes, pallet jacks, and tow motors.
• Stand, walk, push, pull, twist, carry, bend, reach, and lift both above and below waist level; heavy lifting required.
• Work in a safe, professional manner, complying with federal, state, and company regulations.
• Process all associated paperwork daily and be available and willing to work; exceptions require management approval.
• Maintain a positive, supportive, cooperative attitude and perform other duties as directed.

• Minimum age 18.
• High‑school completion or equivalent.
• Pass a non‑DOT physical examination and functional screen.
• Consent to a pre‑employment drug screen and a negative result is required.
• Ability to read, write, and perform basic math in English.
• Lift 50 lb. frequently and 100 lb. infrequently.
• Consent to a 10‑year employment history check; gaps >30 days must be explained.
• At‑will employment; no guaranteed employment period.

• Lift various materials including cartons, bags, cylinders, boxes, crates, drums, pipe, bars, rugs, etc.
• Use forklifts, carts, dollies, banding machines, shrink‑wrap tubes, pallet jacks, tow motors.
• Stand, walk, squat, push, pull, twist, carry, bend at waist, reach, lift, and move weights up to at least 80 lb.; may exceed 100 lb. infrequently.
• Operate forklift, pallet jack, load lock, two‑wheel handcart.
• Sit and stand for prolonged periods and safely enter/exit trailers, vans, flatbeds, forklifts, tractors.
• Work around motorized equipment and in extreme hot or cold, dusty conditions.
• Perform essential functions in these conditions.
