Accounting Manager, Cost Accountant

. William Charles Construction, a Mas Tec Company, currently hiring a Project Accountant in our Rockford, IL office. The Project Accountant processes all financial aspects of each construction project from setup until closeout, working directly with the Project Manager on owner billings, subcontractor billings, change orders, cost projections, job cost adjustments, compliance, reporting, and other tasks.
- Review project setup in Viewpoint accounting system.
- Process monthly owner billing across various systems based on owner requirements.
- Communicate with subcontractors at project start to set billing cutoff dates and procedures.
- Approve all subcontractor billing on a monthly basis.
- Handle additional billings determined by project type.
- Enter progress entries and job cost adjustments in the accounting system at the direction of the Project Manager or Construction Controller.
- Prepare, review, and post all job cost projections in the accounting system with input from the Project Manager or Construction Controller.
- Create and process all subcontract change orders in the accounting system and review subcontract change orders created by the Project Manager.
- Create and process owner change orders in the accounting system.
- Monitor outstanding Accounts Receivable related to the project.
- Ensure all signed contract documentation (contracts and change orders) reconcile to the accounting system.
- Create and distribute various project reporting to management and project team.
- Finalize project owner and subcontractor billing and close out each project using the project closeout checklist.
- Perform various additional project‑related tasks as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent; education and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Prior experience in the construction industry preferred.
- Minimum 3‑5 years of experience in Accounting.
- Competency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to multitask.
- Compensation $65,000 – $85,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
