Position SummaryThe Accountant supports the day-to-day accounting functions of the organization, ensuring accurate financial records, timely reporting, and compliance with company policies and basic accounting standards. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with approximately four years of hands-on accounting experience who is ready to grow their skills within a small, collaborative organization. This position works closely with internal departments and leadership to support financial operations in a smaller but growing organization and may assist with improving and scaling accounting processes as the business evolves.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with daily accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger activities
- Prepare and post journal entries; assist with month-end and year-end close processes
- Reconcile bank statements, credit cards, and balance sheet accounts
- Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation
- Support preparation of financial reports for management review
- Calculate, track, and reconcile sales commissions in accordance with company plans and schedules
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis as needed
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and basic accounting principles
- Respond to internal inquiries related to accounting and financial data
- Support audits and provide requested documentation
- Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned
- Approximately 4 years of practical accounting experience in a staff, junior, or accounting assistant role
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred (or equivalent practical experience)
- Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and general ledger functions
- Experience with accounting software (e.g., Quick Books, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, or similar ERP systems)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including basic formulas and reconciliations
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
