The position offers significant ownership, visibility, and autonomy, with the opportunity to work closely with leadership and influence project outcomes across the full lifecycle.
Responsibilities
+ Manage residential construction projects through the full project lifecycle, from land development and planning through construction and closeout.
+ Coordinate schedules and activities for subcontractors, engineers, vendors, and internal project stakeholders to keep projects on track.
+ Monitor active job sites and ensure work progresses according to project expectations, plans, and quality standards.
+ Conduct regular site visits, typically several days per week, to review progress, identify issues, and implement solutions.
+ Serve as a professional representative of the company in meetings with municipalities, city councils, zoning boards, engineers, and other external partners.
+ Participate in and support permitting, zoning, and development discussions with relevant municipal and regulatory stakeholders.

+ Support clear and consistent communication between office personnel and field teams to ensure alignment on project goals and timelines.
+ Assist with residential development activities across northern Illinois and Wisconsin, including site planning and project coordination.
+ Potentially assist with residential design and drafting responsibilities when experienced with Chief Architect or similar residential design software.
+ Maintain strong client-facing and interpersonal communication, ensuring professional interactions with homeowners, partners, and public entities.
+ Contribute to continuous improvement of construction processes, documentation, and coordination practices across the organization.
Essential Skills
+ 45+ years of experience in a construction management role, with a focus on project management or coordination rather than solely field or trade work.
+ Previous experience working directly for a residential home builder.
+ Hands-on experience with single-family residential construction projects.
+ Background in residential land development and an understanding of related processes.
+ Experience working with municipalities, zoning boards, city councils, or permitting and development stakeholders.
+ Strong understanding of the full construction project lifecycle, from pre-construction through completion.
+ Demonstrated ability to coordinate subcontractors, engineers, vendors, and other project stakeholders.
+ Proficiency with Microsoft Excel for tracking project data, schedules, and reports.
+ Experience using Smartsheet or similar project tracking and collaboration tools.
+ Strong communication, client-facing, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to represent leadership in key meetings.
+ Ability to independently make sound project-level decisions and resolve issues as they arise.
+ Comfort balancing office responsibilities with regular job-site visits and field coordination.
+ Ability to work onsite five days per week in Rockford, Illinois.
