After School Coordinator Differential - 9 Month School Year

Purpose of the PositionTo coordinate the After School Program by staffing teachers, designing curriculum, engaging community partnerships such as the Rockford Park District, and analyzing data outcomes. The program provides a Tier 2 Academic Intervention for students identified through multiple data sources.
Duties and Responsibilities- Ensures that all actions align with Board policies, the district’s mission, beliefs, objectives, and strategic plan.
- Participates in job training and professional growth opportunities to enhance performance of essential functions.
- Performs other related duties as assigned to maintain an efficient and effective work environment.
- Recruits families / conducts interest inventory during August registration.
- Analyzes data and collaborates with K‑5 teachers to identify students with the greatest need using MAP, Reading Horizons, Math screener, Dibles, Units of Study, F & P, Common Formative Assessments, etc.
- Arranges transportation, coordinating with the School Transportation Supervisor to ensure students residing more than 1.5 miles from Ellis receive a bus home.
- Ensures nutritional service compliance to provide daily snacks for each attending student, communicating with Nutrition Services to meet FDA regulations.
- Creates and implements the academic/content area curriculum for reading and math, incorporates best‑practice strategies and technology, and collects data for progress monitoring and action planning.
- Communicates with families about student discipline; escalates issues to administration as needed.
- Works with the Rockford Park District to develop a rotating enrichment schedule and ensures daily instruction in reading, math, and technology.
A Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years teaching experience.
Knowledge,Skills and Abilities
- Working knowledge of Illinois Learning Standards for the assigned grade level and/or subject area and ability to evaluate alignment of those standards to instruction and the district’s curriculum.
- Working knowledge of Illinois Assessment Frameworks for the assigned grade level and/or subject area.
- Working knowledge and ability to effectively use and integrate technology in the classroom setting.
- Broad literacy techniques and strategies for all aspects of communication; ability to develop each student’s reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills.
- Demonstrated success in modeling effective reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills during direct and indirect instructional activities.
- Success utilizing current teaching techniques, differentiating instruction, and evidence‑based classroom management strategies.
- Effective data‑based problem‑solving and team‑collaboration skills to drive instructional changes.
- Successful collaboration with teachers and students.
- High level of professionalism with ability to maintain confidentiality and personal flexibility in all areas.
This is not a benefits‑eligible position.
Working ConditionsModerate in‑district travel as well as intermittent in‑state and out‑of‑state travel. Intermittent prolonged and irregular hours of work.
Physical DemandsThe role may involve climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, and lifting various objects. Regular use of fingers, hands, and arms for typing or handling materials is also required.
Environmental ConditionsWork is performed both indoors and outdoors, subject to normal environmental conditions and occasional extreme heat or cold. Noise may require speaking loudly at times.
