Senior Engineer, Mechanical Engineer; Onsite

Overview

Collins Aerospace invites a Mechanical Engineer to support new product development and field issue resolution within the Power & Controls SBU in Rockford, IL. The role is onsite, requires U.S. citizenship, and offers a competitive salary range of $82,000‑$164,000 USD.

• Support existing product development and field issues related to design, analysis, and test.
• Create engineering documentation such as hardware specifications, test plans, analytical reports, and test reports.
• Perform program plans (budgets and schedules).
• Communicate effectively with management, suppliers, customers, and technical design team members.
• Participate in design discussions and customer presentations.
• Conduct engineering investigations to establish root cause and verify corrective actions.
• Adhere to and develop engineering standard work.
• Respond to supplier or plant site issues, analyze and correct operations and field issues.
• Decompose system-level requirements into component-level requirements.

• Typical degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with minimum 3 years of experience.

• Design, test, and manufacturing experience of mechanical components and systems.
• Background with structural and thermal analysis, and 3‑D design software.
• Experience with Excel (VBA, Solver, etc.).
• Experience preparing and executing program plans.
