Associate Engineer. Performs a variety of engineering work including design, analysis, substantiation, certification, drawing interpretation and project management as related to transport category aircraft.
What you will be responsible for:
- Create step-by-step work instructions for the repairs and deviations of hardware and components as they relate to aircraft structures, systems, interiors and avionics.
- Create engineering installations and repair drawings using AutoCAD or similar software programs.
- Repair, design and analysis of metal, composite and metal-bond structures.
- Translate guidance and engineering principles and procedures into usable working direction for assigned projects.
- Gathers, coordinates and applies basic engineering data using established and appropriate or defined engineering principles and procedures.
- Applies area of specialty to design, develop and implement creative and innovative solutions to difficult problems.
- Reviews progress with management and recommends corrective action along with review of alternatives.
- Performs such individual assignments as supervisors and superiors may direct; ensure adequate and continuous controls are exercised over all assigned activities affecting quality.
- Establishes and maintains effective work relationships within the department, the Corporation and the community; and maintains the professional competence, knowledge and skill necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities.

What you will need to be successful in this role:
- Understanding of standard engineering drawing convention.
- Knowledge of the Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs – from Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations) as they apply to transport category aircraft.
- Familiarity with the Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) process and the FAA Airworthiness Directive (AD) process and rules governing disposition.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, preferably those created by Boeing, Airbus and Douglas and be familiar with the documents needed to routinely maintain commercial aircraft;
Structural Repair Manual (SRM), Aircraft Maintenance Manual (AMM), Illustrated Parts Catalog (IPC), etc. - Ability to analyze Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) source documents (Service Bulletin, Service Letter, etc.) and make independent decisions based on analysis of available data regarding incorporation on Customer’s fleet.
