Overview

William Charles Construction, a Mas Tec Company, is currently hiring for a GPS Technician.

The GPS Technician is responsible for performing a variety of tasks associated with field operations. The GPS Technician will work directly with Project Managers, Superintendents, and Foremen to ensure project models are set up, reviewed for accuracy, and built to specifications. This role will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and tracking the company's GPS equipment. The GPS Technician will also collect field measurements, documentation, and manage data.

This is a traveling position, up to 75% of the time, including work sites in the assigned area and some overnight travel. A company vehicle and fuel card will be provided, along with meals and lodging when overnight travel is required.

Responsibilities
  • Determine whether external resources are needed for modeling, research options, and secure resources for projects.
  • Review third-party models for accuracy.
  • Act as a liaison between model providers and field teams to resolve issues.
  • Use CAD systems for 3D modeling on smaller projects.
  • Load model specifications onto equipment as needed.
  • Troubleshoot GPS equipment issues.
  • Research survey equipment options and technologies.
  • Maintain a tracking system for survey equipment issuance.
  • Conduct project site orientation and verify control points.
  • Survey sites and prepare calculations for materials and quantities.
  • Prepare and maintain sketches, maps, reports, and as-built surveys.
  • Perform various additional survey tasks as required.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of survey experience, preferably in construction.
  • Preferred experience with AutoCAD and AgTek.
  • Knowledge of geological principles and methods.
  • Understanding of applicable laws, codes, and regulations.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field; a combination of education and experience may be considered.
