We are hiring a Revenue Collection Officer I for our Field Compliance Division in our Rockford office. In this position you will assist taxpayers and their representatives with delinquent tax issues, provide direction on how to comply with current Illinois tax laws, and be given the tools to effectively communicate with taxpayers to bring them into compliance.

Essential Functions- Under general supervision, develops experience in performing field tax collection activities involving the collection of delinquent taxes from taxpayers, securing delinquent tax returns, and determining taxpayer compliance with the various tax laws.
- Provides information and assistance to taxpayers, explaining and giving guidance and direction on such matters as taxable income, liability for penalties, etc.
- Confers with taxpayers and/or their representatives to determine methods of liquidating previously determined tax liabilities or for determining tax liabilities.
- Locates evasive taxpayers through personal contacts, tracing by various sources including building agents, business affiliates, neighbors, directory services, Federal, State and Municipal Agencies, employers and other leads.
- Utilizes Gen Tax tax system to document activities related to collection cases including taxpayers contacted, monies/returns collected, demands made, etc.
- Accompanies higher level collection officers engaged in conducting more complex or technical assignments.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to the completion of four years of college.
