Then consider working for the Illinois Department of Revenue. We are hiring a Revenue Collection Officer Trainee for our Field Compliance Division in our Rockford office. In this position you will be trained on how to assist taxpayers and their representatives with delinquent tax issues, learn the current Illinois tax laws, and be given the tools to effectively communicate with taxpayers to bring them into compliance.

Essential Functions
  • Under immediate supervision, for a period of six to twelve months, participates in an Illinois Department of Revenue (IDOR) sponsored training program receiving training and controlled working assignments designed to develop broad knowledge, understanding, and practical skills necessary to perform the duties of a Revenue Collection Officer I.
  • Receives on the job training assignments designed to provide work experience of increasing difficulty for the purpose of gaining experience and developing skills.
  • Receives indoctrination and instruction in tax laws, rules and regulations, work procedures, interviewing techniques and methods and techniques of investigation pertinent to the collection program.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to the completion of four years of college
    -OR- four years of experience in collection work, or a related collection field.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two (2) years of work experience in a delinquent tax compliance and collection field.
  • Two (2) years of experience following oral or written instructions in a work environment to accomplish a task.
