Underwriter, Risk Manager/Analyst

Position Summary:
Mortgage loan underwriters underwrite file documentation adding loan program required conditions and to ensure that the borrower meets all program requirements. Ability to make and communicate all credit decisions (approval, suspense, denial) to appropriate staff. Underwriters are responsible for keeping within fair lending practices and protecting the company by making sound lending decisions.
As a mortgage underwriter, your job responsibilities are to:
- Analyze loan files based on program and product specifications
- Review and analyze credit reports, income and asset documents as well as appraisal reports and other relevant information.
- Maintain expert knowledge of corporate, investor and regulatory guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state and company guidelines.
- Effectively communicate credit decisions and document needs to production staff
Mortgage Underwriter requirements:
- A minimum of 5 years' experience directly relating to first mortgage underwriting.
- Highly organized and able to prioritize
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written. Spanish speaking not required, but a plus
- Detail-oriented with strong data analysis skills
- High mathematical aptitude
- Good working knowledge of mortgage and relevant legal regulations, including secondary market guidelines
- Proficiency in automated underwriting systems
- Mortgage bot is a major plus
