Position Summary

The Regional ABA Trainer is responsible for providing instruction and guidance on Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles, policies, and practices to all team members, with particular emphasis on the development and support of Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs). This position ensures adherence to Westside Children’s Therapy standards and policies, promotes consistent clinical practices, and supports training initiatives across departments as directed by clinical leadership.

The Regional ABA Trainer is also responsible for documenting training activities, monitoring training effectiveness, and submitting monthly reports to the Senior Regional ABA Trainer.

Work Locations

Must be able to travel to and support our clinics in DeKalb, Loves Park, Machesney Park, and Rockford.

Essential Functions
  • Deliver comprehensive group and one‑on‑one training aligned with ABA principles and Westside best practices.
  • Provide onboarding and ongoing training for RBTs and other clinical team members ensuring consistent delivery of training across the region.
  • Coordinate new RBT clinic‑based onboarding and ensure consistency in training and development across the region, including transfers.
  • Assess RBTs’ knowledge, skills, and competencies, ensuring mastery of required clinical standards throughout onboarding and training periods, with check‑ins after 15 days, 30 days and 45 days of hire.
  • Communicate training progress, identify ongoing training needs, and make recommendations for individualized or team‑based training plans.
  • Ensure all RBTs acquire and maintain RBT certification in accordance with BACB standards and Westside Children’s Therapy policies.
  • Obtain and maintain certification as a Safety Care Facilitator.
  • Facilitate Safety Care Training, ensuring all team members within the assigned region maintain active certification.
  • Support the implementation of client treatment plans, ensuring fidelity and transfer of knowledge from BCBAs to corresponding team members.
  • Engage with BCBAs during regular supervision to ask questions, receive feedback, and ensure fidelity of programming, effectively transferring essential information and knowledge to RBTs.
  • Collect data on both client and trainee performance simultaneously with fidelity. Conduct fidelity and IOA checks on RBTs.
  • Serve as a mentor and clinical resource for new and existing ABA team members, providing guidance on best practices and professional growth.
  • Conduct one‑on‑one meetings with assigned Lead RBTs to support skill development and performance.
  • Provide coverage for direct therapy in the event of staff absences when there are no current training needs.
Required Education, Experience and Credentials
  • High school diploma or equivalent required;
    Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Active RBT certification required at time of hire/promotion.
  • 1,000 hours or more as an RBT.
  • Reliable transportation (valid driver’s license and current auto insurance).
  • Safety‑Care certification within 90 days of hire/promotion.

Travel Requirements
  • Up to 75% local travel to support regional training needs.
