Tool Maker

Base Pay Range

$25.00/hr - $35.00/hr

The Tool Maker and Repairer uses appropriate equipment to create tooling that matches part drawings. The role includes making jugs, fixtures, dies, machine tools, cutting tools, gauges, and other tools used in manufacturing processes.

• Read blueprints and use measuring devices to make or modify existing tooling for new or old job prints.
• Ensure tools are sharpened and in good condition before returning to the tool room.
• Repair or requisition replacement parts, tooling or hardware to maintain adequate stock.
• Check tooling in and out of the tool room.
• Set up and operate all tool room machines/lathes for specific form tools, taps, drills, or holders for grinding.
• Make up set up kits for any machine.

• Preferred heading experience in a fastener industry.
• Effective communication with supervisors, peers, or subordinates via telephone, written, email, or in person; maintaining composure under stress.
• Prioritization, organization, and efficient work execution.
• IATF 16949 knowledge.
• Quick task switching with minimal errors.
• Deductive reasoning to apply general rules to specific problems.
• Adjust machine components to regulate speeds, pressures, temperatures, dimensions, and flow of materials.
• Knowledge of basic maintenance of heading tools; reading calipers, micrometers, and blueprints.
• Adherence to OSHA and company safety guidelines.

• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
• Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated areas.
• Must continuously stand and move during 8–10 hour shifts.
• 100% onsite; single work location.
