American Traveler is hiring a Neuro Trauma ICU RN for a Level 1 trauma center requiring 3+ years critical care experience and IL licensure.

• Level 1 trauma center acute care setting in the Neuro Trauma ICU (NTICU)
• Patient population includes complex trauma (head, chest, abdominal, orthopedic), stroke with IV tPA, thrombectomy, embolization, aneurysm coiling, adult and pediatric burns up to 17-20% BSA without respiratory involvement, and general med-surg patients requiring critical care
• Utilizes CRRT, EVDs, and ICP monitoring
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2-3
• 12-hour night shifts (7p-7:30a)
• Every other weekend required (Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday nights)
• Every other holiday required
• No call or standby requirement
• Expected to float throughout the hospital, excluding ER and OB, with a 1:4 ratio cap if floated to Med Surg
• EPIC EMR used
• Charge nurse available 24/7, generally without a patient assignment
• CNAs staffed on the unit, up to 2 per 17 patients
• Hospitalist in-house 24/7 with eICU support for pulmonary after hours
• Philips central monitors used; RNs required to read their own telemetry strips

• Active IL RN license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA)
• NIHSS certification required; PALS preferred but not required
• Minimum 3 years of RN experience required
• Comfortable with vent management and medication titration
• Experience with arterial lines and central lines required
• CRRT and EVD/ICP experience preferred
• Experience titrating common ICU drips required
• Negative drug screen required for all panels

• Provide critical care nursing to complex trauma, neuro, stroke, burn, and general ICU patients
• Manage and titrate common ICU drips as part of daily patient care
• Collaborate with respiratory therapy, which manages ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow equipment
• 1-2 shifts of unit/department-specific orientation provided
• Any color professional scrub permitted; additional scrubs recommended for burn patient dressing changes
