American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for an Intermediate Care/Stepdown unit, requiring an active IL RN license and at least 1 year of relevant experience.

• Level 1 Trauma acute care hospital setting in a 23-bed Intermediate Care/Stepdown unit
• Patient population includes stroke, cardiac, sepsis, and surgical diagnoses
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3-4
• Utilizes EPIC EMR system
• 12-hour night shifts (7p-730a) with weekend rotation based on unit needs
• Required to float throughout the hospital, excluding ER and OB
• No call or standby requirements
• RNs titrate drips including heparin, nitro, cardizem, levo, cardene, and precedex
• Respiratory equipment used includes CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow; RNs troubleshoot as needed
• Monitor techs observe rhythms, but nurses are responsible for interpreting their own telemetry strips

• Active IL RN license required
• Current certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and NIHSS (AHA)
• Minimum 1 year of relevant nursing experience required
• Experience with trach care, BiPAP, stroke care, and IV drip titration required
• EPIC EMR experience preferred

• Charge nurse available 24/7 and typically does not take a patient assignment unless necessary
• CNAs support the unit with a ratio of 8-23 patients each
• Holiday coverage required on a rotating basis for designated holidays
• Any color of professional scrub permitted; scrubs not provided by facility
• Unit-specific orientation consists of 1-2 shifts
• Local candidates accepted, with a reduced rate applying to those within 50 miles of the facility
