American Traveler is hiring a night-shift RN for a Neuro Telemetry unit requiring active IL licensure and prior neuro/telemetry experience with NIHSS certification.
Requirements- Active IL RN license required
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
- BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and NIHSS (AHA) certifications required
- Prior neuro and telemetry nursing experience required
- Nursys verification required for license
- Acute care Level 1 trauma hospital setting on a 23-bed Neuro Telemetry unit
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5-6
- Patient population includes CVA, TIA, syncope, encephalopathy, altered mental status, brain mass, and cardiac/neuro diagnostic, interventional, and surgical cases
- Uses EPIC EMR
- 12-hour night shifts (7p-730a) with self-scheduling available
- Every other weekend required (Friday/Saturday for nights)
- Every other holiday coverage required (Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's Day)
- No call or standby requirement
- Float to any unit in the hospital except OB, OR, and ED
- Charge nurse staffed every shift with reduced or no patient assignment when possible
- Nursing assistants/PCTs on unit typically covering 7-13 patients
- Phillips telemetry monitoring for all beds, with house-wide monitor techs interpreting strips
- RNs not required to titrate drips
- Provide nursing care across a variety of neurological, medical, surgical, and cardiovascular conditions
- Unit-specific orientation consists of 1-2 shifts
- Professional scrubs of any color required; closed-toe shoes mandatory; no hoodies or artificial nails/nail alterations
- Scrubs are not provided
- COVID vaccination is not required for this facility
- Local candidates accepted with a reduced bill rate for those within 50 miles of the facility
