Travel RN - Med​/Surg - Orthopedics

American Traveler is hiring a RN for an Orthopedics Acute unit requiring an active IL license, BLS certification, and at least 2 years of RN experience with ortho skills.

• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Ortho experience/skills required
• RNs not required to titrate drips
• RNs not required to read telemetry strips

• Acute care Orthopedics unit with 26 beds
• Patient population includes joint replacements, trauma, spine surgery, fractures, and medical overflow cases such as GI bleed, UTI, and pneumonia
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5-6
• Charge nurse staffed every shift with reduced or no patient assignment when possible
• Nurse aides/patient care techs on unit typically carrying 7-13 patients
• Some telemetry patients monitored via Phillips monitors, with house-wide monitor techs reading strips
• CPAP/BiPap used at night and nasal cannula; no ventilators
• 12-hour day shifts (7a-730p) and night shifts (7p-730a) with self-scheduling available
• Every other weekend required:
  Days work Saturday/Sunday, Nights work Friday/Saturday
• Every other holiday required (Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's Day)
• No call or standby requirement
• Floating required to any unit in the hospital except OB/OR/ED
• Uses EPIC EMR
• 1-2 shift unit/department specific orientation provided
• Any color professional scrub permitted; closed toe shoes required; no hoodies, artificial nails, or nail alterations
• Negative drug screen required for all panels as part of OSF's Drug-Free Campus policy
• COVID vaccination not required
