Unarmed School Security Flex Officer

Location: Rockford, IL
Schedule: Monday-Friday / Variable Shifts Between 6am-6pm

Hours: Full-Time, Guaranteed 40 Hours/Week
Pay Rate: $18.25/hour

Position Summary

We are currently seeking a dependable and professional Unarmed School Security Flex Officer to join our Chicago-based team in Rockford. This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, with variable shifts scheduled between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM. The ideal candidate will have a strong sense of responsibility, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide a visible and reassuring security presence on school campuses.
• Monitor entrances, hallways, and common areas to deter unauthorized activity.
• Assist in conflict resolution and de-escalation when necessary.
• Patrol school grounds to ensure safety protocols are followed.
• Respond to incidents, emergencies, or disturbances in a calm and professional manner.
• Work collaboratively with school administrators and local law enforcement when needed.
• Flex between various school sites as assigned; flexibility in daily location is required.

Requirements

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain all required certifications and clearances, including PERC card, 20-hour training, background checks and fingerprinting.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact professionally with students and school personnel.
• Must be flexible and adaptable to different school environments and varying shift start/end times between 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM.

Education Requirements (All)

HS Diploma
GED or H.S. Equivalent

Certification Requirements (All)

IL PERC Card
20-hour IL security training certificate
