Responsible for monitoring and resolving network issues, supporting customer installations, and maintaining accurate network documentation. Performs installation and testing of network nodes and colocation sites, and provides emergency restoration for fiber and equipment. Maintains colocation facilities and participates in a 24x7 on‑call rotation for Tier I network support.
- Receive, monitor, analyze, and resolve network problems in a timely manner with minimal oversight.
- Coordinate and perform new customer installations for wholesale, enterprise, and colocation customers. This could include structured wiring, NID installation and the addition of pluggable cards and jumpers at the Fiber locations.
- Provide proper documentation of network (Site Audit's, and Inventory Databases).
- Provide installation, test and acceptance for nodes and collocations into network.
- Support emergency restoration for aerial and/or buried fiber optic cable in network.
- Provide emergency restoration support for network equipment.
Skills & Qualifications
- Need to be local to the area
- On call is 4 weeks off call and then 1 week primary on‑call and then 2nd week secondary on‑call
- Need to have some experience in Field work. 2+ years is preferred.
- Willing to work day, evening, night shifts, overtime, call‑ins, weekends, and/or holidays as required. Hours to be worked are determined by job requirements.
- Valid state driver license with clean driving record
- Self‑motivated and the ability to make sound decisions with minimal supervision
- Strong PC skills
- Strong oral and written communications skills
- Multi‑task and maintain composure in a demanding work environment.
- Telecommunications equipment installation, preferred
- Cisco or Alcatel Lucent IP Certifications, preferred
- VOIP Switching and maintenance, preferred
- Fiber optics splicing and maintenance, preferred
- SS7/STP support, preferred
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rockford, IL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $32.00/hr.
