Position Overview

The Picking Lead supports daily picking and order fulfillment operations by providing hands‑on leadership, coaching, and quality oversight. This role ensures accuracy, organization, and efficiency throughout the picking process while acting as a key liaison between warehouse associates, supervisors, and cross‑functional teams. The Picking Lead is responsible for resolving order issues, maintaining productivity, and upholding operational excellence within the department.

Leadership & Team Support
  • Support daily workflow by sorting and distributing clipboards, assigning tasks, and ensuring team preparedness.
  • Provide daily guidance and coaching to pickers with a focus on accuracy, efficiency, and error reduction.
  • Train and onboard new pickers, ensuring clear understanding of standard operating procedures, safety practices, and quality expectations.
  • Communicate effectively with auditors, pickers, and supervisors to align performance goals and operational expectations.
  • Assist in completing and maintaining daily fill‑rate documentation.
Operational Excellence
  • Print and mark packers appropriately to ensure proper traceability and workflow accuracy.
  • Conduct cart and flag audits to verify accuracy and compliance with established procedures.
  • Perform ladder audits and shelf‑organization walks to maintain 5S and safety standards.
  • Ensure consistent execution of all 5S practices (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) within the picking area.
  • Assess inventory levels for packing materials and communicate reorder needs to supervisors.
  • Partner with Customer Experience and Purchasing teams to troubleshoot escalated or problematic orders.
  • Assist with order picking as needed to support team productivity and service levels.
Continuous Improvement & Quality
  • Actively participate in Kaizen events and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance picking efficiency and workflow.
  • Identify operational inefficiencies and recommend actionable solutions to improve accuracy, speed, and employee engagement.
  • Monitor accuracy metrics and address recurring errors through coaching, training, and process improvements.
  • Support internal and external audits by ensuring documentation accuracy and adherence to company standards.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate’s degree preferred.
  • 2+ years of warehouse or order fulfillment experience.
  • Leadership or team lead experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of warehouse management systems (WMS), standard operating procedures, and material flow.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to lead, coach, and motivate team members in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Working knowledge of Kaizen, Lean, and 5S principles strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift items up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to walk and stand up to 8 hours per day.
  • Ability and comfortability to climb ladders.
Working Conditions
  • Warehouse environment with moderate noise from power industrial trucks.
