Overview

Perdue Farms in Rockingham, NC is hiring a Production Supervisor (1st Shift). This position oversees daily production operations, ensuring efficient workflows, high-quality output and strict adherence to safety and regulatory compliance. This role places strong emphasis on fostering associate growth, developing talent, and maintaining a safety culture of continuous improvement. The Dapec Production Supervisor is a key leader who drives team performance and upholds quality production standards.

Responsibilities
  • Safety and risk management:
    Enforce safety protocols and ensure a safe working environment for all associates; conduct regular safety training, risk assessments and incident investigations; stay updated on regulatory changes and ensure team compliance with safety standards.
  • Food safety and quality:
    Maintain compliance with all food safety regulations (e.g., HACCP, GMPs, sanitation); ensure products meet quality specifications through adherence to SOPs; lead corrective actions for non-conformances; implement and monitor quality control processes; maintain compliance with OSHA, ISO and industry requirements; apply lean manufacturing principles to enhance productivity and reduce costs; identify and implement process improvements.
  • Environmental considerations:
    Ensure compliance with environmental laws and regulations related to air, water quality, waste disposal and hazardous management.
  • People development and leadership:
    Mentor and coach team members; foster an inclusive, collaborative culture; drive associate engagement and retention.
  • Production oversight:
    Supervise daily production activities to meet schedules and quality standards; collaborate with maintenance to monitor equipment performance and minimize downtime; optimize labor, materials and equipment usage.
  • Reporting and communication:
    Maintain production records; provide regular status updates to management; act as a liaison between production and other departments (engineering, QA, supply chain).
Requirements
  • Minimum

    Education and Experience:

    High School Diploma/GED and a minimum of 3-5 years in a manufacturing environment with 2 years in a supervisory role. Completion of a relevant management trainee or rotational program may be considered in lieu of some experience.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
  • An Associates or Bachelors Degree (highly preferred)
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with a focus on associate development
  • In-depth knowledge of quality control processes and compliance standards (ISO, OSHA, etc.)
  • Awareness and willingness to learn lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational and time management skills
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred
  • Poultry or protein production experience
  • Certifications:

    Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, OSHA 10/30 or similar certifications
Environmental Factors And

Physical Requirements
  • May need to move light equipment or supplies; access files and equipment.
  • Plant environment may include wet floors, varying temperatures and humidity, noise, and exposure to chemicals; must wear protective equipment as directed.
