Job SummarySaint Dominic’s Family Services recognizes the value that volunteers provide to enhance the work of the Agency. Saint Dominic’s Family Services strives to promote community collaboration by actively recruiting volunteers. A volunteer is not a replacement for a paid position assigned to an Agency employee and a volunteer is also not authorized to work with the individuals served without direct supervision by a designated staff.
It is expected that a volunteer supports the mission of the Agency and commits to a schedule in an effort to prevent an interruption of services. All volunteers must undergo a background check where there might be associated fees for which the Agency is not responsible. In some cases, it might be necessary for the volunteer to attend required orientation/training.
- Volunteer services are coordinated by the Recruitment Specialist at Saint Dominic's Family Services.
- Upon receipt of an application, the prospective volunteer will interview with the Recruitment Specialist to assess the skills and determine, along with the applicant, if Saint Dominic’s Family Services would provide appropriate volunteer opportunities.
- The volunteer would need to undergo a background check and provide pertinent information as required by the Agency and its funding entities. This can include, but not limited to, NYS sex offender check, a physical/PPD, Central Register Database check (for child abuse clearance), Medicaid fraud check, fingerprints, NYS criminal justice Staff Exclusion List, employment and personal reference checks, and other required clearances relevant to the specific program/department.
- Upon receipt of the relevant clearance, the volunteer will be provided with a policy booklet and a code of conduct, the name of the supervisor and a schedule will be outlined with the volunteer duties.
- Upon separation, the volunteer must notify the Recruitment Specialist in writing.
