Rockland Trust is seeking a dedicated Corporate Tax Accountant to expertly manage all facets of our tax compliance, accounting, and reporting functions. This is your opportunity to leverage your keen attention to detail to prepare critical returns, handle ASC 740 provisions, and work closely with internal teams and external advisors.
Position Overview
The Corporate Tax Accountant supports the bank's tax compliance, accounting, and reporting functions by preparing and reviewing federal, state, and local tax returns, ensuring compliance with banking specific regulations, maintaining tax related account reconciliations, assisting with tax provisions under ASC 740, and various other tax-related activities within the bank. The role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently, and closely with both internal teams and external tax advisors.
Key Responsibilities
Tax Filings & Documentation
- Prepare and organize documents for corporate income tax returns (federal, state, and local)
- Prepare and file various withholding, and indirect corporate tax returns (federal, state, local)
- Research federal and state tax issues; prepare technical memoranda and recommendations
- Manage all tax related correspondence; and coordinate with external tax preparers, auditors, and state/federal agencies.
- Maintain a well-organized system for storing tax records, correspondence, and payment confirmations.
Tax Related Accounting and Financial Reporting
- Assist in preparing and compiling information for quarterly and annual tax provisions in accordance with ASC 740
- Monitor and reconcile all tax related accounts in the general ledger
- Collaborate with accounting and finance teams to ensure proper reporting of tax impacts
- Support internal and external tax related audits, providing schedules and responses as needed
Qualifications & Skills
Education & Experience
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 – 3 years of experience in tax and/or accounting, preferably in banking or financial services.
Technical Skills
- Basic knowledge of tax filing processes and general accounting principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel and Word).
- Familiarity with accounting software or ERP systems a plus.
Soft Skills
- Excellent organizational and recordkeeping abilities.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet strict deadlines.
- Professional communication skills for interaction with internal teams and external partners.
