Under minimal administrative direction, collaborate with nursing faculty and director to develop, implement, and evaluate the District’s nursing educational programs, instruct nursing courses, and perform related duties.
Responsibilities- Participate in faculty meetings to plan, evaluate, and develop all aspects of nursing programs.
- Prepare curriculum revisions, self‑studies, and reports for state agencies.
- Develop course materials and coordinate program implementation.
- Provide instruction in classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings.
- Supervise students in clinical areas, offer timely feedback, evaluate performance.
- Assist in orienting, supervising, and evaluating part‑time and full‑time faculty.
- Maintain program and student records, including attendance, evaluations, and grades.
- Serve as a professional role model, advise students on job and educational opportunities, and participate in graduation ceremonies.
- Maintain currency in nursing content and education trends; attend professional meetings and workshops.
- Master’s or higher degree in nursing from an accredited college or university, or a Bachelor’s in Nursing plus a Master’s in Health Education/Health Science.
- Valid California Registered Nurse license and Class C or higher driver’s license.
- Minimum of two (2) years RN experience and at least one (1) year teaching experience within the last five (5) years.
- Knowledge of medical‑surgical nursing, curriculum development, and nursing education trends.
- Ability to lecture, instruct in practical settings, supervise students, and maintain accurate records.
Placement on the District’s Faculty Salary Schedule depends on experience and education. Starting salary ranges from $66,812.56 to $89,535.23. Benefits include health and welfare plans, the State Teacher Retirement System (STRS), and other leave provisions.
