Psychology (Adjunct/Part-time) – Rocklin, CA. Salary: $77.44 - $98.98 hourly. Job type:

Applications are kept in the hiring pool for a period of two years. The number of open positions varies from semester to semester. Responsibilities
  • Curriculum Development – ESSENTIAL:
    Review and evaluate curriculum to meet student interests within budget, coordinate with part-time instructors to ensure consistency, coordinate with educational administrator to assure transferability of courses within CSU/UC systems, evaluate and/or revise course descriptions, present proposals for curricular changes, and make changes as approved within the shared governance structure. PERIPHERAL:
    Review curriculum for concordance with changes in laws, regulations, and standards.
  • Lecture/Laboratory Preparation – ESSENTIAL:
    Review and evaluate textbooks, prepare lectures, update syllabi, select and prepare materials for classroom use, coordinate with publishers, manage reserves, prepare lesson plans, and present information clearly with visual aids. PERIPHERAL:
    Attend conferences to increase knowledge in subject matter and teaching techniques.
  • Student Performance Evaluation – ESSENTIAL:
    Develop quizzes and examinations, monitor examinations to prevent misconduct, evaluate student responses, assign and evaluate homework, tabulate scores, and advise students on academic matters. PERIPHERAL:
    Input scores into a computer and generate printouts as needed.
  • Shared Governance Participation – ESSENTIAL:
    Attend department meetings, respond to information requests, participate in curriculum development and text selection, and represent the department on campus committees. PERIPHERAL:
    Attend divisional/building meetings and participate in broader college activities as requested.
  • Ancillary Student Services – ESSENTIAL:
    Hold regular office hours, advise students on academic performance, and provide positive role modeling. PERIPHERAL:
    Provide letters of recommendation and conduct review sessions as needed.
Minimum Qualifications

Master's in psychology OR Bachelor's in psychology AND Master's in counseling, sociology, statistics, neuroscience or social work OR the equivalent. This is a part-time faculty teaching assignment with salary rates as published on the Part-Time/Adjunct Salary Schedule (degree and years of acceptable teaching experience determine step placement).

Verification of prior employment may be needed to determine minimum qualifications met. Copies of transcripts must be attached to the application (photocopies and unofficial transcripts are accepted).
