Responsibilities
  • Program Development – ESSENTIAL:
    Participate in ongoing faculty meetings to plan, evaluate and develop nursing programs, including philosophy, curriculum framework, program and level objectives, policies, and the total program evaluation plan as required by State regulating agencies. Assist in preparing written curriculum revision proposals, self-studies and other reports for State regulating agencies and other governance bodies. Contribute to developing course materials and resources, review and order textbooks and media, update nursing literature, and evaluate clinical facilities.
  • Program Implementation – ESSENTIAL:
    Implement the planned instructional program, including theory instruction, supervision of students in clinical areas, timely feedback, evaluation of student performance, collaboration with clinical agencies, and maintaining program and student records.
  • Ancillary Student Services – ESSENTIAL:
    Maintain office hours, advise students, participate in graduation and awards, and engage in curriculum development and evaluation. PERIPHERAL:
    Write letters of recommendation and precept students in local programs.
  • Related Professional Responsibilities – ESSENTIAL:
    Maintain currency in nursing content and education, adhere to program policies, promote department cohesion, attend professional meetings, participate in governance activities, and respond to information requests. PERIPHERAL:
    Represent department on District committees and attend various meetings as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's in nursing OR Bachelor's in nursing AND Master's in health education or health science OR the equivalent OR the minimum qualifications as set by the Board of Registered Nursing, whichever is higher.
  • Part-time faculty salary as per the Part-Time/Adjunct Salary Schedule (downloadable).
  • Offer and acceptance of employment is subject to verification of all information provided on the employment application, credentials, transcripts, Live Scan, and tuberculosis examination as required. Verification of prior employment may be needed.
  • Copies of transcripts MUST be attached to the application (photocopies and unofficial transcripts accepted).
  • Equivalency information available; please attach the Request for Equivalency Hearing form if claiming equivalency.
  • Foreign transcript evaluation required if coursework from outside the U.S. is used to meet minimum qualifications.

  • Compensation placement on the District's Faculty Salary Schedule based on experience and education. Entry-level ranges and current salary details are provided in the job posting. Employees are members of the STRS and receive sick leave and other leaves per the collective bargaining agreement.
