Position Summary
Join a high-performing, dynamic team shaping the future of PG&E's electrical grid – delivering reliably, safe, affordable, and clean energy to our customers and communities. The Grid Operations, Applications, and Transformation (GOAT) team implements and maintains PG&E’s Operational Technology, including the Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS), a cornerstone for a sustainable energy future and the Grid of Tomorrow.
Responsibilities- Lead and Innovate – Resolve GIS model promotion issues and ensure seamless integration across systems.
- Develop GIS Expertise – Build and maintain deep knowledge of PG&E’s electric distribution and transmission GIS systems, ensuring accurate and reliable data for ADMS operations.
- Cross-Functional Liaison – Coordinate among GIS Mapping, IT GIS, the GIS Center of Excellence (COE), and the ADMS GOAT organization to align processes, resolve data discrepancies, and support strategic initiatives.
- Provide Direction – Deliver day-to-day directions for standard network modeling tasks, aligning with organizational priorities.
- Collaborate on Roadmaps – Influence product and technology roadmaps, ensuring network model capabilities support future functionality.
- Maintain Documentation – Maintain all relevant documents, standards, and procedures for network modeling and ADMS operations.
- Model Integrity – Maintain and enhance station models, load/generation profiles, and overall network accuracy.
- Process Optimization – Identify and implement automation opportunities to streamline ADMS support and maintenance.
- Strategic Collaboration – Align technology with ADMS requirements and future grid capabilities.
- Standards Development – Establish new engineering standards and guidelines in collaboration with Distribution Standards.
- Subject Matter Expertise – Serve as the escalation point for ADMS-related inquiries, device commissioning, and communication infrastructure.
- Continuous Improvement – Champion best practices for efficiency, reliability, and operational excellence.
- Onboarding Leadership – Lead onboarding of new products, features, or system capabilities for inclusion within the production network model, supporting documentation and overall business readiness.
- Vision & Strategic Execution – Create and cast the overall vision for strategic execution of network modeling and ADMS initiatives.
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Experience with grid modeling software (e.g. CYMDIST, PSLF, Aspen, etc.).
- 10 years of electric utility related experience.
- Master of Science in Engineering, preferably Electrical Engineering.
- Expertise in the domains of systems, SCADA and network model engineering.
- Experience in process automation, system integration, field device design, and device engineering standardization.
- Experience with grid modeling software with an emphasis on the Schneider Electric ADMS product.
- Advanced electric engineering concepts experience.
- Experience supporting projects and initiatives with medium to high corporate priority.
- Power system model tuning experience.
- Transmission or Distribution System Planning experience.
- Transmission or Distribution Operations experience.
- Protection System Engineering experience.
- Deep understanding of electric distribution and transmission GIS systems and data governance.
- Collaborating on technology and product roadmaps with cross-functional teams.
- Strong documentation and standards management skills for complex operational systems.
- Proven leadership in onboarding new products, features, or system capabilities, including business readiness and support planning.
- Strategic planning experience, partnering with senior leadership to define and execute long-term vision.
- Certifications in GIS (e.g., Esri Technical Certification) or related technologies preferred.
- Project management or change management certifications (e.g., PMP, Prosci) are a plus.
- Proficiency with one or multiple protocols (DNP
3.0, IPv4/6, PGE
2179, IEC 61850, 2030.5, OPC, ICCP). - Strong experience in and with an ADMS OMS, preferably with the SE Exostructure.
