Under general supervision from assigned manager, the Senior Software Programmer is responsible for the functional and technical aspects of one or more modules of the District’s Banner Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. Duties include project management, liaison, data modeling, systems development, architectural planning, advanced analysis, requirements gathering, coding, testing, documentation, and technical support for District staff.

Representative Duties
Serve as a project leader by coordinating and involving District staff from multiple organizational units; follow systems development life‑cycle techniques; employ joint application development processes; guide the work of project team members in converting or integrating applications among platforms; install, integrate, test, and tune software to maximize performance.Troubleshoot application errors; isolate problems from symptoms; determine alternatives and implement solutions; work with the user community to improve training and instructions.Define the scope and objectives for applications, including constraints and system requirements; analyze current organizational functions, processes, sources, and data to determine application needs.Analyze user business processes; design applications to optimize system use; document workflows; produce application specifications and documentation on inputs, outputs, and data structures.Design data elements, input screens, reports, and outputs; develop logical and physical database structures and internal relationships.Program and modify in‑house and third‑party applications, creating and editing CSS, HTML, JavaScript, Groovy, and related files to meet web design specifications.Design, code, test, and maintain application software, including Banner ERP administrative and integrated systems; consult with users on data requirements.Coordinate and implement data conversions, integrations, and transitions; develop user and system documentation; plan and conduct user training.Provide technical support, problem resolution, and data research for end users; deliver training for integrated data management applications.Participate in planning and implementing long‑range system goals; research and develop system requirements, including evaluating and selecting information systems.Establish and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and follow Support Level Agreements (SLA).Conduct feasibility studies for proposed applications and prepare recommendations for customers.Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of evolving computer technologies; prepare periodic briefings on relevant technologies.Coordinate with vendors and users to integrate third‑party software into District systems and databases.Design, code, test, and maintain data transformation services between primary ERP and auxiliary systems.Review, develop, enhance, and modify code using database, object‑oriented, and emerging programming languages and data integration and migration processes.Provide onboarding support, general training, guidance, and supervision assistance.Perform related duties that support the overall objective of the position.Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience Guidelines
- Four years of college with major coursework in computer science or a related field.
- Industry certifications in cybersecurity may substitute for some education.
- Four years of increasingly responsible analysis and programming experience.
Qualifications
Knowledge of:
- Computer and relational database design.
- Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems such as Ellucian Banner.
- Program development techniques, SDLC, and documentation.
