Overview
Sr. Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) - Specialty and Primary Care role at UC Davis Clinical and Translational Science Center. The Sr. LVN provides licensed medical support to medical care providers as part of the department/clinical team, supervised by a licensed physician or registered nurse within the LVN scope of practice. Administrative responsibilities include customer service, professional behavior and development, and assignment and scheduling of work.

- California Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN)
- American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS), or UC Davis Health CPR
- Must provide proof of valid Intravenous (IV) Therapy and Blood Withdrawal certification
- Documentation of graduation from an accredited school of vocational nursing, or completion of education and experience as a corpsman in the United States military
- Minimum of two (2) years of LVN experience
- Ability to pass the safe to practice pharmacology exam
- Knowledge of medications, indications, dosage ranges, dilutions, side effects, and potential toxicity; typical allergic reactions
- Basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology with ability to recognize abnormal findings
- Observation skills to detect changes in patient condition and potential adverse reactions
- Knowledge of medical terminology to communicate with patients, health care providers and insurers
- Ability to interpret physician orders to ensure complete and up-to-date patient records
- Interpersonal skills to maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and patients
- Problem solving and independent decision-making abilities within delegated authority
- Organizational skills to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume clinic
- Proficiency with computer systems and typing for timely input and documentation
- Strong writing skills with clear, concise English
- Knowledge of clinic practices and protocols related to medical records and HIPAA considerations
- Basic understanding of health care insurance systems relevant to job functions
- Epic or Electronic Health Record experience
