Leads and develops teams effectively by teaching, training, and actively listening to associates while touring stores and providing feedback. The manager communicates and collaborates with all levels of associates regarding store operations, utilizes technology and business initiatives, and promotes merchandising and company direction. They introduce and lead company change efforts, providing clear expectations and guidance to implement business solutions, and communicate business objectives to teams effectively.
The role models and demonstrates exceptional customer service standards to store associates by following and demonstrating the One Best Way (OBW) service model. They manage and support customer service initiatives, address customer needs, complaints, and issues, and develop action plans to correct deficiencies and improve processes, ensuring a high‑quality customer experience.
They drive financial performance and sales by reviewing and evaluating profit & loss statements, managing budgeting, forecasting, and controlling expenses, and monitoring merchandise presentation, seasonal transitions, inventory flow, and operational processes. The manager develops and implements action plans to mitigate shrink and achieve sales and profit goals. They provide supervision and development opportunities for hourly associates by hiring, training, mentoring, assigning duties, setting clear expectations, and recognizing achievements, while promoting a belonging mindset and recruiting qualified associates.
The manager coordinates job‑related activities, communicates goals, builds accountability, measures progress, and identifies improvement opportunities, driving continuous learning and adaptability.
- Develop and coach teams to deliver training and customer service excellence.
- Communicate and collaborate across all associate levels about store operations and business initiatives.
- Lead change efforts, provide clear guidance, and ensure alignment with company objectives.
- Maintain high customer service standards and resolve complaints effectively.
- Analyze profit & loss, budget, and forecast to drive financial performance.
- Manage merchandising, inventory flow, and operational processes to meet sales goals.
- Supervise hourly associates, including hiring, training, mentoring, setting expectations, and recognizing performance.
- Promote a culture of belonging and continuous learning.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, ethics, and the Open Door Policy.
- 2 years of college; OR 1 year of retail experience and 1 year of supervisory experience; OR 2 years of general work experience and 1 year of supervisory experience.
- For facilities selling firearms: successful completion of a firearms‑specific Criminal Background Check (CBC) and Firearms Authorized Training.
- For facilities selling only ammunition: current state‑issued Certificate of Eligibility may be required.
- Completion of all required job trainings and assessments (e.g., Academy, Open Door).
- Bachelor of Science in Business Management and Leadership or equivalent through Live Better U.
- Certificate of Completion in People and Business Leadership through Live Better U.
- Experience supervising five or more direct reports, including performance management, mentoring, hiring, and firing.
