What’s the opportunity?

Anchor QEA is seeking a full‑time natural resources scientist to support field Mittag studies and acquisition of regulatory permits and approvals for waterfront construction, redevelopment, dredging, and restoration projects primarily located along the Gulf Coast.

You will assist project managers by completing field studies, collecting data, reporting results, and helping to prepare related permit applications. This work may also include aspects of environmental studies, status reports, and other deliverables needed to obtain environmental clearances. You will be a key member of project teams with opportunities to continue learning and solving challenging environmental problems.

Responsibilities
  • Completing field work, including aquatic resource delineation surveys (seagrass, oyster), terrestrial habitat surveys, topographic and bathymetric surveys, drone photogrammetry, surface water and sediment sampling, threatened and endangered species surveys, environmental constraints surveys, etc.
  • Collecting field data using GPS and other survey technologies and completing reporting to document field results.

  • Helping to prepare permit applications for projects mainly in Texas, Louisiana, and Florida under Section 10 (Rivers and Harbors Act) and Sections 401 & 404 (Clean Water Act).
  • Supporting project teams with development of technical reports such as threatened and endangered species assessments, biological assessments, sensitive resource reports, and others associated with NEPA reviews.
  • Helping to prepare other federal, state, and local permit applications and supporting documents, which may include technical studies documenting field work and interpreting data.
  • Working collaboratively with project teams to satisfy client and agency requirements through planning, design, permitting, and construction of Gulf Coast development and restoration projects.
Ideal Candidates Will Have The Following
  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in environmental planning, policy, science, marine science or biology, ecology, conservation biology, wildlife or fisheries management.
  • 1–3 years of experience in environmental surveying, natural resource management, ecological services, environmental consulting, regulatory compliance, technical writing, or similar with particular emphasis on Gulf Coast resources.
  • Experience interpreting field data to assess project impacts and applying results to permitting applications.
  • Familiarity with environmental regulatory frameworks in Texas, Louisiana, and Florida (Section 10, 401/404 permits).
  • Ability to travel mainly within the Gulf Coast; occasional out-of-state travel.
  • Capability to adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple concurrent projects independently and in teams.
  • Strong professional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in working in fast paced, client‑service oriented environments and collaborating across disciplines.
