TPWD - Motor Vehicle Technician II; Maintenance Shop Technician

Rockport Maintenance Shop, 824 S Fuqua Street, Rockport, TX 78362

Under the direction of the Rockport Maintenance Shop Team Leader, this position performs routine (journey-level) motor vehicle and marine vessel maintenance, diagnosis, and repair. Also assists in performing maintenance, repair, and fabrication of specialized fisheries sampling equipment. Assists with purchasing and report preparation. Works under moderate supervision with limited latitude for use of initiative and independent judgement. Performs additional duties as assigned.

Complies with all Agency, Division, and Branch rules, regulations, and procedures.

Graduation from high school or GED.

One year of relevant experience in operation, maintenance and repair of vehicles and/or boats.

Must possess or be able to obtain, within thirty days of employment, a valid class `C' Texas driver's license.

Must possess or be able to obtain, within thirty days of employment, a Texas Boater Education certification or equivalent unless legally exempt per §31.110 of the Texas Water Safety Act.

Retention of position is contingent upon maintaining the required driver's license.

Experience in operation, repair and maintenance specific to boats, outboard motors, trailers, and related equipment.
