Senior Project Manager – James G. Davis Construction (DAVIS)

Join the senior project management team and lead the execution of multi‑large, complex construction projects while ensuring safety, quality, schedule, and cost objectives are met.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the Project Management Team and manage daily execution of construction processes for large and complex projects.
  • Collaborate with the DAVIS Superintendent to oversee safety, quality, contracting, scheduling, estimating, bidding, subcontracting and contract administration.
  • Participate in pre‑construction efforts that overlap or precede construction.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Safety

  • Enforce DAVIS Safety program in accordance with policies, local, state and federal laws for all subcontractors.
  • Resolve safety‑report issues promptly and conduct regular safety walks.
  • Maintain current certifications for First Aid, CPR and OSHA.

Technical Knowledge

  • Support pre‑construction services and bidding: cost estimates, scopes of work, preliminary schedules, site logistics.
  • Lead or participate in bid or GMP package development, trade scopes, vendor bids, and schedule creation.
  • Review owner contract terms to identify risks and coordinate with senior staff.
  • Develop and execute project buy‑out strategy and budget.
  • Negotiate subcontract agreements, purchase orders, submittals, RFIs, change orders, schedule management and close‑out documentation.
  • Develop and maintain detailed construction schedule with Superintendent, subcontractors and suppliers and update it regularly.
  • Track and control schedule, material status, and costs to meet project timelines and budgets.
  • Lead change proposals, negotiate and issue change orders; revise budget accordingly.
  • Retrieve and maintain required documentation: contracts, insurance certificates, bonds and other documents.
  • Lead project meetings, prepare agendas, facilitate discussions, and distribute minutes.
  • Review submittals, shop drawings, and RFIs and coordinate with contract documents.
  • Track sustainability or LEED metrics.
  • Prepare project status reports, safety reports, cost updates, risk identification, and project photos.
  • Approve and code subcontractor and vendor invoices.
  • Collaborate with Superintendent on site logistics and sequencing diagrams using proper software.
  • Handle monthly owner invoicing and subcontractor invoice reviews.
  • Manage project close‑out process: checklists, punch lists and documentation.
  • Troubleshoot financial close‑out and disputes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Quality of Work

  • Implement the DAVIS Quality Management system in project execution.
  • Maintain quality logs using Latista or similar software.
  • Ensure use of DAVIS standards and proper submittals to comply with contract documents.
  • Implement budget and cost control, change management, invoicing, status reporting, schedule control, and maintenance processes in line with DAVIS standards.
  • Oversee scopes of work for each trade and ensure buy‑out completeness.
  • Solicit, review, and analyze subcontractor and material supplier bids for accuracy.
  • Adhere to best practices and educate other team members.

  • Review budgets, subcontracts, scopes, invoicing, etc. with the Superintendent Team.
  • Ensure proper project team communication internally and externally throughout construction.
  • Communicate progress and impacts to owners, architects and subcontractors.
