Occupational Medicine Physician – Reviewing Medical Officer (RMO) – Law Enforcement and Surveillance Case Review Program – Part‑Time – Rockville, Maryland or Nationwide/Remote.
STGi is recruiting for an Occupational Medicine Physician – Reviewing Medical Officer (RMO) for the Law Enforcement and Surveillance (LE‑S) Case Review Program for Federal Occupational Health Services (FOH).
Pay rate:
Starting at $130/hour.
- Evaluate cases for federal agencies seeking medical clearance for safety‑sensitive positions such as federal law enforcement officers and firefighters, and for surveillance related to occupational exposures.
- Review and provide recommendations for other types of occupational medicine evaluations related to LE‑S.
- Provide expert medical consultation on law enforcement and surveillance programs for federal employees.
- Collaborate with team members, offering consultation and training to ensure high‑quality reviews and exceptional customer service.
- Participate in preparation for Joint Commission (TJC) accreditation as requested.
- Maintain medical records securely in accordance with TJC standards.
- Maintain appointments, privileges, board‑certification and licenses to practice medicine in accordance with FOH and state regulations.
- Assist in establishing and performing continuous quality improvement assessments of the various examination types reviewed for law enforcement and medical surveillance.
- Perform a variety of occupational medical reviews as assigned.
- Provide written and oral consultation determinations and recommendations to customers with 100% accuracy, primarily in written form.
- Support medical and consultative needs for one or more federal agencies.
- Perform a mixture of administrative, clinical, and consultancy responsibilities depending on assignments and FOH needs.
- Perform medical consultations and complete reviews in accordance with FOH policy and guidelines.
- Demonstrate strong technical expertise in occupational and primary care medicine and provide consultation or medical care when required.
- Work and communicate effectively, especially in high‑stress situations.
- Possess strong technical knowledge of federal occupational safety and health regulations.
- Provide assistance and consultative support to Examining Physicians (EPS) when needed.
- May be required to perform clinical duties such as ordering labs, client follow‑up, etc., in support of agency needs.
- May be required to conduct hands‑on examinations (if privileged by FOH) and render professional opinions for work clearances or recommendations.
- Monitor health of employees and employee populations enrolled in medical surveillance programs and conduct epidemiologic assessments when warranted.
- Advise federal agency clients on development, management, and improvement of medical surveillance and certification programs.
- Provide occupational and environmental medicine related presentations to federal agency employee groups as asked.
- Perform at least annual reviews of agency existing medical programs for which the RMO is lead.
- Provide expert witness testimony as needed related to case reviews.
- Complete all required training and demonstrate proficiency in using FOH IT systems (including Fed Health).
- Review and comply with all federal cybersecurity policies and standard operating procedures.
- Submit monthly billing in required format and by the specified deadline.
- Report billing for services with 100% accuracy.
- Adhere to limits of administrative time when applicable.
- Receive FOH program direction and notify FOH Medical Director of planned leave of absence.
- Attend all monthly RMO calls in real time or by viewing recorded sessions.
- Present interesting case or topic to RMOs at least once per calendar year.
- Work with designated management, safety, and human relations personnel of federal agency clients on all matters related to occupational health and safety.
- Partner with FOH team members (AE, AMA, Program Manager) to provide prompt response to customer inquiries related to case reviews or urgent consultation.
- Advanced training in Public Health is desired with previous experience as a medical consultant for a federal agency.
