STGi is recruiting for an Occupational Medicine Physician – Reviewing Medical Officer (RMO) for the Law Enforcement and Surveillance Case Review Program for Federal Occupational Health Services (FOH) in Rockville, MD and/or Nationwide/Remote.
Job SpecificDuties and Responsibilities:
The Reviewing Medical Officer (RMO) in the Law Enforcement and Surveillance (LE-S) Case Review Program evaluates cases for federal agencies seeking medical clearance for safety‑sensitive positions, such as federal law enforcement officers and firefighters, as well as for surveillance related to occupational exposures. The LE‑S RMOs also review and provide recommendations for other types of occupational medicine evaluations related to LE‑S.
In addition to conducting case reviews, the RMO provides expert medical consultation on law enforcement and surveillance programs for federal employees. While the RMO works independently, they also collaborate with team members, offering consultation and training to ensure high‑quality reviews and exceptional customer service.
Participates in preparation for TJC accreditation, as requested. Maintains all medical records securely according to TJC standards. Maintains appointment to medical staff and privileges for all services assigned according to FOH Credentialing and Privileging policy. Maintains board‑certification and licenses to practice medicine in accordance with professional societies and state regulations. Participates in FOH peer review process as requested. Assists in establishing and participating in performing continuous quality improvement assessments of the various examination types that are reviewed in law enforcement and medical surveillance.
ServiceOperations
Performs various types of occupational medical reviews, as assigned. Provides medical content of written and oral consultation determinations and recommendations to the customer with 100 percent accuracy. Demonstrates the ability to convey expert medical opinions and advice using excellent communication skills. These communications will primarily be written. Supports the medical and consultative needs for one (1) or more federal agencies. Performs a mixture of administrative, clinical, and consultant responsibilities depending on the specific assignments and the needs of FOH in completing a case.
Performs medical consultation and completes reviews in accordance with FOH policy and guidelines. Demonstrates a strong level of technical expertise in occupational and primary care medicine and provides consultation (and medical care when required) of the highest caliber. Demonstrates the ability to work and communicate effectively, particularly in high stress situations. Possesses a strong technical knowledge regarding federal occupational safety and health regulations.
Provides assistance and consultative support to Examining Physicians (Eps) when needed. May be required to perform clinical duties in support of agency needs such as ordering and reviewing labs, client follow‑up, etc. May be required to conduct hands‑on examinations (if privileged by FOH), and render a professional opinion as it relates to work clearances or recommendations consistent with the examination findings and established physical qualifications.
Monitors health of employees and employee populations enrolled in medical surveillance programs and conducts epidemiologic assessment of these populations when warranted. Advises Federal agency clients on development, management, and improvement of medical surveillance and certification programs. May be asked to provide occupational and environmental medicine related presentations to Federal agency employee group.
