iCook/iSTEAM After School is an innovative educational company that provides a fun, hands‑on after‑school cooking and nutrition education program for children ages K‑4. The focus is to enrich lives by teaching love of food, cooking, eating healthy dishes, and learning about cultures. The iSTEAM program includes hands‑on experiments. Instructors will teach provided lesson plans that cover basics of engineering, technology, chemistry, science through art, and more.
We are looking for people who share our passion for education, food, and making a difference in the lives of our little chefs. This is an amazing opportunity to have an impactful job with a FLEXIBLE schedule, working on days and locations that suit you. Our educators come from diverse backgrounds: nutritionists, educators, stay‑at‑home parents, students, chefs, and more.
What You Will Be Doing- Lead after‑school cooking/STEAM classes for elementary students (K‑4) and inspire them with creative recipes, experiments, new foods, and cultural learning.
- Teach provided lesson plans on nutrition and healthy eating in a fun, engaging way.
- Introduce kids to cutting and measuring techniques, food safety, table manners and other curriculum concepts.
- Purchase groceries for each class based on the recipes (reimbursed separately).
- Experience working with large groups of kids (school setting, summer camp, etc.).
- Enthusiastic about teaching, cooking, and nutrition.
- Effective classroom management skills.
- Energetic personality and ability to keep students engaged.
- Punctuality and reliability, with reliable transportation.
- All classes run in the afternoon between 2‑5 pm, depending on the school, and typically last one hour.
- We will pair you to teach classes at schools conveniently located for you on the days that work best for you.
- You can teach a maximum of 5 classes per week, or one class per day, based on your availability.
- Pay is $70 per class (1 hour long). The pay rate accounts for approximately two hours of work, including 1 hour class time, preparation, and cleanup.
