Position Overview
Coaching is for one season. Schools hire qualified MCPS teachers or professionally certified educators. Emergency coaches may be hired if no qualified teacher is available.
Requirements
- Be an MCPS teacher or professional certified educator employed by MCPS
- Complete or be enrolled in the two‑credit MCPS course “Care and Prevention of Athletic Injuries, Coaching Fundamentals and CPR/AED” offered through the MCPS Athletics Unit
- Complete/submit the online MCPS Application
Emergency Coach Levels
- Level I – Certified teacher (not employed by MCPS)
- Level II – High school graduate, at least 21 years old, training course, online application
