The salary range above represents this position’s earning potential. The anticipated hiring range for this position will be $87,235.00 to $, based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

The mission of the Department of Technology and Enterprise Business Solutions (TEBS) is to be responsive, collaborative, and innovative in providing technology solutions and services to facilitate the delivery of a wide range of services in all branches of government. The department strives to provide its solutions and consultative services in a cost‑effective, timely, and high‑quality fashion to reduce service times, avoid inflated costs, reduce information security risk, and improve the quality of County services through automation‑assisted process improvement.

The department facilitates business and re‑engineering processes to improve legacy workflow and streamline services to our customers.

The Office of Broadband Programs (OBP) is responsible for advancing digital equity and broadband infrastructure across the County. The team provides ongoing support for Montgomery County Government’s Mo Co Net  free residential broadband service. This position requires frequent interaction with Mo Co Net  customers, internal clients, contractors, and vendors at various levels on multiple projects in a professional and timely manner.

We Are Looking For

Montgomery County is seeking a mid to senior level technician with advanced knowledge of network technologies, including TCP/IP and wireless technologies, ensuring seamless installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of internet and Wi‑Fi connected devices. This role is essential to ensure reliable connectivity and exceptional customer service for residents across the County.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Expertise in Network Technologies: advanced knowledge of TCP/IP and wireless technologies for installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of internet services and Wi‑Fi devices.
  • Field Operations: work primarily off‑site at various residential housing sites, performing installations, tests, and maintenance of low‑voltage cabling and Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS).
  • Customer Support and

    Education:

    excel in customer service, troubleshoot and resolve internet service issues, educate customers on equipment operation, and ensure long‑term success with Mo Co Net  services.
  • Documentation and Coordination: create detailed project documentation, update TEBS records, and coordinate daily schedules to prioritize workload effectively.
  • Proactive Communication: maintain proactive communication channels with customers and internal teams, ensuring timely responses to electronic communications and status updates.
  • Support for Network Operations: support the Network Operations Center (NOC) and Network Engineering staff as needed, diagnose and resolve network‑related issues and optimize network infrastructure inventory.
  • Weekend/on‑call Coverage: available for on‑call and weekend emergencies to ensure continuous support and rapid response to service disruptions or urgent issues outside regular business hours.

The individual selected for this position will be considered an Essential Employee. Essential employees must report to work during a period of general emergency or liberal leave.
