Manufacturing Engineer, Quality Engineering
POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for the maintenance and repair of process equipment, developing and implementing preventive maintenance programs, and supporting ongoing manufacturing activities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Responsible for supporting a variety of experiments for process development
- Conducting validation and testing activities
- Completion of test protocols as written by engineering staff
- Conduct installation qualifications on new equipment
- Support ongoing manufacturing activities, particularly development and/or improvement of current manufacturing techniques
- Upgrade and develop manufacturing work instructions
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance activities on process equipment
- Perform troubleshooting on process equipment
- May write and maintain SOPs and/or work instructions
- Write and maintain work instructions for preventive and predictive maintenance activities
- Develop and maintain equipment logs
- Maintain inventory for maintenance items
- Understand and follow laboratory safety precautions and ensure compliance with company safety policies
- Specific duties may vary depending upon departmental requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, biotechnology or related discipline preferred
- High school diploma with minimum 5 years of experience may be substituted for a Bachelor's degree
- Minimum 3 years of experience
- Familiar with ISO Standards and Good Manufacturing Practices
- Experience using basic hand tools and inspection equipment required
- A demonstrated level of consistency in performance and aptitude for managing additional responsibility and accountability are required for next level consideration
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Strong mechanical/electrical fundamentals and analytical background
- Logical problem solving and demonstrated ability to organize and move project tasks forward in an orderly and structured fashion
- Excellent oral, written communication and interpersonal skills
- Effectively communicate issues/problems and results that impact schedules, accuracy and reliability of data, and product quality
- Track record of successful development and implementation of preventive maintenance programs
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and the quantitative background to advance this knowledge on the job is expected
- A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected including the ability to multi-task and work productively in a demanding production environment with changing priorities
- Ability to independently complete assignments with minimal supervision
- This position requires the ability to communicate and exchange information, utilize equipment necessary to perform the job, and move about the work place
- Occasional lifting of up to 40 lbs
This position is performed in a traditional production environment and/or light-manufacturing facility.
COMPENSATION SUMMARYThe annual base salary for this position ranges from $59,100. to $87,900. This salary range represents a general guideline as MSD considers other factors when presenting an offer of employment, such as scope and responsibilities of the position, external market factors, and the candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities, education and experience. Employees may qualify for a discretionary or non-discretionary bonus in addition to their base salary.
