Relief Veterinary Technician - Emergency

Pay: $24.30 - $49.20 / hour

This pay band is dependent on experience and advancement through our competency assessment tool.

Blue Pearl Pet Hospital offers an exciting, fast-paced role for Veterinary Technicians, allowing you to utilize and expand your skills while working alongside talented veterinary professionals.

• Induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia in patients, using anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases upon arrival, including obtaining vitals such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography with proper technique and patient positioning.
• Understand normal ranges of vital signs, including heart rate, respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs, alerting Veterinarian to changes.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Calculate medical math accurately (including CRIs) and administer medications via appropriate routes and durations.
• Perform phlebotomy and place intravenous catheters in peripheral vessels proficiently.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Mentor and train other team members.
• Address client concerns with patience and empathy.
