Merchandise Processor – Montrose FT
Join Goodwill of Greater Washington as a Merchandise Processor at our Montrose location. Partner with retail team members in a high‑energy, fast‑paced environment to perform a variety of critical inventory management responsibilities. You’ll sort, process, and prepare donated merchandise for display and sale in your own retail store. Our shoppers will love you!

- Transfer merchandise from containers to determine appropriateness for the sales floor in accordance with established guidelines.
- Stay abreast of brand name, designer labels, current and vintage styles.
- Prepare items for the sales floor; evaluate items to determine quality, pricing, value and salability.
- Count number of items processed and record on official log.
- Sort apparel into boutique, salable, and salvage categories according to quota.
- Place items on hangers, place hangers on rolling rack, and transport them to the sales floor while keeping similar items grouped.
- Count pieces of clothing and record on Daily Hanger Report.
- Place non‑sellable merchandise in the appropriate container.
- Follow good safety and security practices, including reporting safety hazards and injuries to the manager on duty.
- Maintain a pace at which one can meet required productivity goals (quotas) for pieces processed.
- Maintain a clean, neat uniform and appearance.
- Assist in the collection and stocking of donated merchandise.
- Provide excellent service to Goodwill’s donors and retail customers.
- Perform other duties as directed.
- Ability to perform basic math.
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend basic instruction.
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally with associates and customers.
- Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, bending, lifting, kneeling, and climbing for prolonged periods of time (up to 7 hours per 8‑hour shift).
- Ability to lift a maximum of 25 lbs frequently.
- Minimum of six months of previous work experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience working in a warehouse environment.
- Previous experience working with merchandise pricing.
- Basic computer skills.
- Multilingual proficiency in English.
