Summary DescriptionUnder direction, perform responsible supply work in coordinating logistical support in warehouse and distribution services. Supervise and evaluate clerks, warehouse workers and truck drivers in ordering, scheduling, receipt, storage, issuance and distribution of various supply materials, furniture and food items. Coordinate customer support and develop training programs. Participate in interviewing and selecting staff, investigating supply chain orders, administering and maintaining customer complaint programs, and coordinating customer feedback.
Work closely with school system staff, especially with school-based staff and staff in the Department of Facilities Management. May participate as member of the facilities on‑site emergency team (OSET).
- Supervise clerks, warehouse workers and truck drivers in all aspects of inventory control, shipping, receiving, storage and distribution.
- Coordinate inventory control, shipping and receiving, resolve service issues, and collaborate with internal partners to meet operational needs.
- Investigate supply chain orders and administer a customer complaint program.
- Participate in interviewing, selecting, training and evaluating office, warehouse and distribution staff.
- Work with school staff and Facilities Management on supply needs and emergency response.
- Maintain accurate records and use computer systems including Microsoft Word, Excel and centralized warehouse/inventory management programs.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA requirements, DOT vehicle regulations, and MD drug and alcohol testing procedures.
- High School or GED diploma required; associate degree preferred.
- Considerable experience in scheduling and coordinating central warehouse and distribution services.
- Knowledge of central warehouse operations, warehouse material handling equipment, trucks up to 53,200 lbs, OSHA, and drug/alcohol testing procedures.
- Strong communication skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to develop specifications for warehouse and distribution equipment and to train staff on truck and equipment operation.
- Possession of a valid MD Class C noncommercial driver’s license and a Class B commercial driver’s license, or ability to acquire within 6 months.
- Sanitation certification required if employed in the Division of Food and Nutrition Service, or to obtain within 3 months.
