Personal Training Coordinator Position Summary
The Person al Training Coordinator supports the day-to-day operations of fitness and wellness at the branch. This role works closely with the Personal Training Director to assist with administrative tasks, staff coordination, member engagement, and program support across Personal Training, the Fitness Floor, and Youth Fitness.
The Person al Training Coordinator plays an active, member-facing role by helping members connect with wellness offerings, supporting staff in delivering high-quality service, and assisting with onboarding and scheduling needs. This position is primarily operational and administrative in nature.
Key Responsibilities- Support daily fitness and wellness operations under the direction of the Personal Training Director.
- Assist with onboarding, scheduling, and training support for wellness staff.
- Serve as a point of contact for members by answering questions, providing program information, and encouraging participation in YMCA wellness offerings.
- Support member engagement efforts for new, returning, and current members.
- Assist with data entry, tracking, and reporting related to fitness participation, personal training, and retention metrics.
- Report equipment maintenance and repair issues in a timely manner.
- Provide day-to-day guidance and support to fitness staff during scheduled shifts.
- Help ensure wellness staff follow YMCA policies, procedures, and service standards.
- Assist with coordination of youth fitness activities and wellness programs as needed.
- Support branch events, community programs, and the Annual Campaign.
- Work a flexible schedule that may include evenings and weekends.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
- Provide shift-level oversight and support for wellness staff.
- Assist with staff recognition, communication, and morale.
- Refer performance issues, coaching needs, and disciplinary matters to the Personal Training Director.
- Undergraduate degree in a related field and/or 2–4 years of experience in customer service, fitness, or wellness.
- Nationally recognized fitness certification or YMCA certification (required).
- CPR, First Aid, AED, blood borne pathogen, and child abuse prevention certifications (or ability to obtain and maintain).
- Ability to demonstrate cardiovascular and strength equipment and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff, members, and leadership.
- Organized, reliable, and comfortable with administrative and operational tasks.
- Professional demeanor with enthusiasm for member service and wellness.
