We are recruiting an experienced, hands-on Accounting Manager for an established and growing manufacturing company in Glastonbury, Connecticut.
This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys being close to the business, not simply reviewing reports. You'll have responsibility across the accounting cycle, including AR/AP, payroll, collections, inventory accounting, reconciliations, journal entries, month-end and year-end close, and financial reporting.
The company has been established for more than 60 years, employs approximately 65 people, and operates within the advanced metal fabrication/manufacturing industry.
We're looking for someone who can step in, take ownership, work independently, and become a trusted part of the organization.
What You'll Be Responsible ForAs Accounting Manager, you will manage the company's day-to-day accounting and financial activities, including:
- Manage Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable
- Oversee A/R collections and follow up on outstanding balances
- Manage inventory accounting
- Process and oversee bi-weekly payroll
- Complete bank reconciliations
- Prepare accrual and adjusting journal entries
- Manage month-end and year-end reconciliations
- Prepare and review financial statements
- Perform account analysis and investigate discrepancies
- Maintain accurate and organized financial records
Support additional general accounting and financial management responsibilities as needed
This position is best suited for someone who is comfortable being a hands-on Accounting Manager and taking responsibility for getting the work done accurately and on time.
The ideal candidate will have:
- 7+ years of hands-on accounting experience, ideally at the Accounting Manager or full-charge accounting level
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred
- Strong working knowledge of AR, AP, payroll, reconciliations, journal entries, and financial statements
- Experience with inventory accounting
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple accounting deadlines and priorities
- Strong organizational and follow-through skills
- Ability to work independently and take ownership
- A self-starter mentality with the ability to learn new processes quickly
- Professional communication skills and the ability to work effectively across an organization
You’ll know you’re succeeding when the accounting function is accurate, organized, current, and dependable.
Leadership can rely on the financial information you’re providing. AR and AP are well managed. Payroll is accurate and timely. Reconciliations and month-end responsibilities don’t fall behind. And when you identify a discrepancy or potential problem, you take ownership of getting it resolved.
If you’re an experienced accounting professional who enjoys taking ownership, working independently, and being an important part of a growing manufacturing organization, we’d like to speak with you.
