Executive Underwriter / AVP, Underwriter Director – Construction Professional Liability

The Executive Underwriter or AVP, Underwriter Director – Construction Professional Liability position is open at Zurich North America
. This role can be based at any Zurich office location or, at the discretion of the Hiring Manager, remote.

• Administer and monitor underwriting rules and guidelines, insurance laws and regulations, and rating annual rules.
• Develop, maintain, and collaborate with Line of Business representatives on referrals and other business‑related needs.
• Provide guidance to lower‑level associates.
• Build and maintain relationships with agents and brokers to support business retention and acquisition.
• Act as a Help Point for agents, brokers and customers, supporting the sales culture.
• Proactively seek renewal and new account opportunities.
• Complete detailed opportunity assessments with key distributors to identify growth opportunities.
• Qualify accounts to meet the organization’s appetite, balanced with sound business opportunity.
• Make broker/customer and on‑site calls with a planned and well‑prepared purpose.

• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market‑Facing area.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area.
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 3 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market‑Facing area.
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 8 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Experience working under time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business.
• Experience working in a team environment.

• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 7 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market‑Facing area.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 14 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area.
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market‑Facing area.
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 12 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area.
• Experience with Microsoft Office.

• Bachelor’s Degree.
• Technical knowledge of Construction Professional Liability underwriting.
• Established broker relationships (retail brokers).
• Sales execution mindset.
• Creative problem‑solving skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

The combined salary range for this position is $98,500.00 – $.
For the Executive Underwriter role, the proposed range is $98,500.00 – $ with a short‑term incentive bonus eligibility of 15%.
For the AVP, Underwriter Director role, the proposed range is $ – $ with a short‑term incentive bonus eligibility of 20%.
